Note: Submissions for 2020 Malaysia Migrant Worker & Refugee Poetry Competition have closed.
The Migrant Worker & Refugee Poetry Competition is a platform for migrant workers and refugees to showcase their literary talents through poetry. The event is aimed to foster mutual understanding between locals and migrants as well as seeks to promote greater tolerance of multiculturalism and give a voice to refugees & lower wage foreign workers.
When & Where
Final round of judging happening live on our Facebook on 22 Nov, 4pm - 5pm.
Who can join?

Open to all UNHCR Cardholders in Malaysia and to foreign workers in Malaysia with Visitor's Pass/Temporary Employment Pass only; the contest is not open to professionals.

Previous winners (First Prize only) are not eligible and are not allowed to submit.

Each participant can submit 1 poem in Bahasa Malaysia, English or their mother-tongue (please also provide a translation in English)

Mention your name, age, and nationality in your email

All submissions to be sent in a single email to mymigrantpoetry@gmail.com either as pdf attachment or pasted on body of email together with name, mobile number and location in Malaysia.

Judges will shortlist 10-15 entries by 30 October, 2020

Selected finalists to recite their shortlisted poems in a public event on 22 November at Kuala Lumpur for final judging

Only original works will be considered

Entrants retain the copyright, the organizers retain the rights to publish and distribute any submitted poem and their translations
